Commentary

A friend called me and said that that the piece by John Pilger in my last post was pure BS, that Pilger was an ultra-leftist. So here’s the dilemma for me. The event that Pilger described could easily have been staged. One might imagine a village where the inhabitants are essentially paid, whether by money or food, to create a Venezuelan Potemkin Village. Pilger could also have bias that allows a sunny image to be constructed. So where does the truth lie?

Whatever the state of repression within Venezuela is, the desire of the US to install a puppet friendly to US interests (read US oil companies) which has been explicitly expressed by Trump and Bolton, is being aided by fake news reports from the media as outlined by Glenn Greenwald: NYT’s Exposé on the Lies About Burning Aid Trucks in Venezuela Shows How U.S. Government and Media Spread Pro-War Propaganda.

In reference to the note about John Pilger, it is still on my mind several days later. It goes a little deeper into the nature of “bias”, something that I’m ruminating on. It has also brought into focus the purpose of this blog: to provide alternative viewpoints and narratives to those that are clearly mainstream and MSM pablum.

Spotlight

Watch this following video (23:18 minutes) titled The Brains Behind AOC. It is an analysis of the impact of the 2018 election on Congress and a forecast of a socialist US in 5 years. It highlights a strategy that will be difficult to defeat. If you think Trump has been revolutionary, have a look at what is coming.

Remember: you ignore what is happening in the US at your own risk.

If the above video is a story of a puppet and its masters, in an event of eerie synchronicity, the YouTube algos served up another story by Blackstone Intelligence of 10 months ago. This is by a guy that does his homework. At 37:13 minutes it’s long but if the above video provides the keystone of future American politics, this one provides the keystone of current American politics. I followed the Q narrative for a while and gave up: it was simply going nowhere. This one is congruent with much of what has happened in the last few years and ties in with much of that which I have previously reported. I highly recommend that you take the time to watch both videos.

I assume you, dear reader will process this in a manner appropriate to your own researched perspective, or in recent terms, in terms of your own standard model.

Propaganda and Fake News (MSM)

The final report of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons about the Douma affair is out and it confirms the general thrust of all I have reported on this incident in the past. There was no evidence of a chemical weapon attack: OPCW Syria Report Cripples Western “Chemical Weapons” Narrative.

There have been reports over several months that elements in the US supportive of war and the defense industry have been trying to sabotage Trump’s North Korea reconciliation efforts. The latest attempt have been reports that NK is restarting its weapons programs and specifically repairing the missile launch site. Here is an article that rebuts the (fake) news on this event: The Media Is Lying About Construction At Sohae Launch Facility. Personally I do not find a strong argument either way. The strongest argument would be to show the same satellite photos of the site a month or two apart to determine which way activity at the site is moving. Lacking this, my bias is to accept the position that demolition is underway.

Political Subversion and Regime Change (CIA)

When I see everyone running towards one side of the boat, I start looking and moving towards the other side. When I read the media I am looking for divergent views and data whether I believe them or not. This in itself provides a bit of a conundrum in that if I find a group of sources with a divergent point of view to a mainstream narrative, the divergent view to this group then becomes a secondary mainstream view. Anyway, I continue to look for commentary in opposition to the regime change narrative that is the mainstream view. Here’s one:

Global War: World War III

Good news: U.S. “Gets Its Ass Handed To It” In World War III Simulation: RAND! Not that the US would lose but that they might tone down their provocative acts against Russia (through NATO) and China in the Taiwan straights and South China Sea, thereby delaying the next WW. The RAND corporation is the major US government defense think tank.

The US

Just when you might have thought that OCrazyO-Cortez had plumbed the depths of socialist delusion, she comes up with this one: Ocasio-Cortez: Wells Fargo ‘Involved’ In Caging Children; Thinks Banks Should Assume Borrowers’ Liabilities. If she keeps it up, even I will vote for her.

Canada

I have never published so much on Canada before. Sunny ways, take 29: Trade War Deepens: China Bans Canadian Canola Shipments Amid Soaring Diplomatic Tensions. Perhaps if Chrystal Freeland goes over and bursts into tears Xi will relent.

The following video by MP Michelle Rempel explains what the SNC scandal is about in very clear terms (20 minutes):

And here’s Rebel Media’s take on it (35:33 minutes):

Economic Issues

I continue to ponder how to approach an analysis to the problem of cities. In particular I wonder how Toronto, population 2.81 million in 2016, can grow to the size of Lagos, population 23.42 million in 2018 (source for both: Google). This article looks at the issue: The Case Against Cities. The obstacle that I’ve come up with is standard of living or in equivalently, energy consumption.

Related to this is birth rate: Baby Boom to Baby Bust – The Crisis in Socialism. Our society is a house of ponzi schemes. Pension plans depend on ever more enrollees to remain solvent. Municipalities depend on growth to maintain their tax requirements. Our economics are premised on growth. GDP is a measure of such and an economy that is not growing is viewed as being in trouble. Does anyone stop to ask why, other than to support ill-considered ponzi structures, do we need to be growing? If you are past your teens, you’ve stopped growing. In fact you are moving into reverse. Do you consider yourself a disaster because of this?

Agriculture

Here’s another article on glyphosate and its carcinogenic risk that discusses suppression of negative reporting by regulator: Poisoning The Public: Toxic Agrochemicals And Regulators’ Collusion With Industry.

Sovereign Debt and the Credit Crisis

Considering that the US is forecast to go into a recession sometime in the next two years – Canada may already be there – the following situation is not good at all: As The Economy Teeters On The Brink Of A Recession, U.S. Debt Levels Are Absolutely Exploding.

Personal Development

Many years ago when we had TV, one of our favourite commentators was John Stossel. More recently I’ve found John on his own YouTube channel. I would argue that YouTube is in the forefront of the media renaissance, the wild west of commentary and reporting. Here is John interviewing Jordan Peterson (5 minutes) on responsibility and other matters of personal development:

Turn off The View and turn on John.

One of my passions is singing and as such I am always interested in sound production. Today I came across this amazing video that gives you an idea of what is going on physiologically:

Bits and Pieces

A few years ago I was tracking the incursion of robotics and automation into our economy. It became so pervasive and commonplace that I quit. But here’s a short update: Record Number Of Robots Replaced Humans In 2018.
