Bits and Pieces – 20171013, Friday

Commentary: Here is an argument why there will be no market crash this fall. Although the precursors for earlier crashes have been equaled or exceeded, the Fed will intervene to prevent one from happening.

Here’s the background. The Swiss National Bank has bought $80 billion in US stocks: The Swiss National Bank Owns $80 Billion In U.S. Stocks — Here’s The Catch. The Bank of Japan currently owns 44.7% of all JGBs (government bonds) issued: Japan JGBs held by BoJ. The ECB has been buying large quantities of sovereign debt but also corporate bonds ($1.4 trillion euros as of Feb. 2017: An update: Sovereign bond holdings in the euro area – the impact of QE). Zero Hedge reported that Janet Yellen, in addressing the House Finances Service Committee, noted that the Fed by its charter cannot buy stocks but congress can easily change this: Janet Yellen On The Fed Buying Stocks: “Maybe In The Future, Down The Line…”.

Bits and Pieces – 20170909, Saturday

Commentary: A little unfocused this week. If you’re a goldbug, listen to Andrew Maguire: Whistleblower Andrew Maguire Exposed 14 Days Ago ‘Vampire Squid’ Goldman Sachs Was Moving In For The Kill. Maguire Now Says Admission By Goldman’s Currie Is A Big Deal.I think it was back in July when I  (I hope) drew attention to an earlier interview with him. Anyone who paid attention and purchased call options on GLD and SLV has done very well.

He is talking about a reset of the price of gold to significantly higher levels. Jim Rickards recently did a podcast selling his investment letter with a headline of $10,000 gold based on the premise of a global currency reset to a gold-backed scheme. A plausible argument but I’m not trading it.

Bits and Pieces – 20170413, Thursday

Commentary: Things are moving way to fast to wait for a Sunday release. And things are getting scary. So put this together.

More information on the deeper strategy in Syria surfaces. It turns out the CIA was plotting the destabilization of Syria decades ago according to this declassified CIA document: 1983 CIA Document Reveals Plan To Destroy Syria, Foreshadows Current Crisis.

And if a strategy works once, try it again: Putin: “Idlib Was A “False Flag” Attack And We Have Learned That More Are Coming”. Add to this another option: Syria Accuses US Of Hitting ISIS Chemical Weapons Depot Killing Hundreds; Russia Sends Drones.

WWIII: On the Korean front, will Trump trump Un: Trump Warns North Korea Is “Looking For Trouble”, Threatens To “Solve Problem Without China”? He could set the Korean peninsula on fire but that could be good for “America first” with Samsung smart phones and Hyundai cars out of the picture: North Korea Threatens U.S. With Nuclear Attack At Any Sign Of Pre-Emptive Strike. That it might not grow into a regional conflict or worse is suggested by a couple of breaking events:  Trump Unexpectedly Calls China’s President To Discuss North Korea and China Threatens To Bomb North Korea’s Nuclear Facilities If It Crosses Beijing’s “Bottom Line”.

The optimal solution might be for the US and China to act together to effect regime change and remove the nuclear threat, hopefully without incinerating Seoul which as I recall is within range of 10,000 North Korean artillery pieces dug into the mountain bunkers. Oh, and this on the Chinese: China Reportedly Tells Military To Be Ready To “Move” To North Korea Border.

Just so you can get a ring-side seat: US May Launch Preemptive Strike On North Korea Ahead Of Nuclear Test. I had to dig back for this: U.S. Air Force deploys WC-135 “nuclear sniffer” plane to Japan to monitor North Korea’s possible nuke weapons tests. But another reason for having such a plane in position that they would not want to signal is to monitor radiation spread if they destroy North Korean nuclear facilities.

Some of the above is 3 or 4 days old but this is hot off the press: Trump May Send Up To 50,000 Troops To Syria. This would be the icing on the cake – nice rich yummy chocolate icing.

And we don’t want to forget all those Afghanis we want to kill while testing the largest non-nuclear bomb (MOAB) ever dropped: US Drops Largest Non-Nuclear Bomb For The First Time On ISIS In Afghanistan. The generals have gotta’ love Trump since he has apparently taken the leash off.

And Trump now finds NATO useful: Trump Reverses On NATO: “It’s No Longer Obsolete”.

Bits and Pieces: There have been suggestions that the Swedish people will become extinct as Muslim immigration takes over the country. Such may be a Darwinian outcome: Sweden’s Largest Newspaper Demands “Ban Men In Cars To Stop Terror”.

Canada Corner: Only in New Brunswick: Why Real Estate Should NEVER be the Majority of Your Portfolio?

Bits and Pieces – 20170402, Sunday

Commentary: I think this will be a weekly blog post from here on. Sunday makes a good wrap. Either the number of articles that I wish to present to you has declined in occurrence or I have simply absorbed them as I reported them and they no longer appear important enough to bring to your attention.

As an example, the Russian hacking scandal when it broke was big news. Now that it has been thoroughly debunked, the bits of news that still trickle out demonstrate little more than the desperation of the powers that want to dump Trump. As an example, as reported today, Tuesday, the tables of linking Trump and his advisors are being turned on the Democrat camp: Here’s The Story Behind Trump’s Podesta-Russia Tweet. Interesting but not ground-breaking news.

As you may know, I am collecting crises. More properly, I am trying to identify systems that are near their critical point. In such a system, when the critical point is reached, the smallest related event may trigger a systemic realignment and release of potential energy or tension. Charles-Hugh Smith, a prolific thinker and writer talks about these systems or crises: The Overlapping Crises Are Coming, Regardless Of Who’s In Power. If you can think of any, please let me know

Bits and Pieces – 20170310, Friday

Commentary: Perhaps the most important article for Canadian readers today is a ZeroHedge report on new data from the BIS (Bank of International Settlements – sometimes called the central bankers bank because it acts as a global banking watchdog): Whose Banks Are Riskiest: A Surprising Answer From The BIS. The Canadian banks deny any risk as does the government. However, not believing either institutions, I am mapping out a defensive strategy which I will publish at a later date.

This article is a short summary of what I have been saying about jobs: If You Think Your Job Is One That Cannot Be Automated, You’re In For A Rude Awakening. The 5-10 year time-frame for this to unfold is the time-frame for the point of no return for the collapse of Western civilization. The 15 minute video in it I embed below. It is extremely well produced and is comprehensive in its coverage:

The key point in this video is that of the horses. Hint: we didn’t need all the horses of the pre-auto age AND WE DON’T HAVE THEM TODAY.

Civil Unrest: Here is an articles discussing civil war in the US: Is The Left Trying To Start A Civil War?

I realized today that the disregard for the democratic process in the US by those who refuse to accept the outcome and are actively working to reverse the result in a soft coup – to overthrow Trump – are really seeking a totalitarian form of government that embodies their ideologies.

Cyber Warfare: More commentary on the cyber warfare being waged by the CIA on … uh, anyone and everyone apparently: CIA’s Dirty Cyber Tricks Exposed: “UMBRAGE” & Potential False Flag Attacks” and The most shocking revelation from the CIA spying scandal. And I thought all the viruses and Trojans I have dealt with over the year came from bored high school kids working out of their parents’ basements or Russian mob technicians: WikiLeaks Holds Press Conference On CIA Hacking, Will Share Hacking Tools With Tech Firms.

As a result of the revelation of the UMBRAGE project the CIA, the CIA cannot credibly identify a hack or intrusion as Russian in source.

Bits and Pieces – 20170307, Tuesday

Commentary: One of the biggest problems facing us is the loss of jobs due to RAAI. Not only will we not be able to cope with the surplus labour but the double whammy of increased entitlement payouts and decreased revenue from income and sales taxes will lead to collapse in government finances. But there are other social implications as well: When Factory Jobs Vanish, Men Become Less Desirable Partners. This is another tear in our social structure.

Now view this 6-minute video also at the end of the article:

Automation is introduced to cut labour costs by displacing workers or increasing productivity. That is, automation enables an increase in production without hiring more workers. A company will do this to gain a competitive advantage or maintain one. Since competition is the dominant force in most markets, automation will only increase, particularly as its costs continue to drop while labour costs rise. When all humans have been displaced, the process will go on by replacing older robots with newer, more efficient ones. We are entering a future where there will be far fewer jobs, particularly well-paying ones. Simply put, we already have too many people in our societies.

Bits and Pieces – 20170219, Sunday

The Deep State: I came across this article on Jim Quinn’s The Burning Platform blog: DHS INSIDER SAYS IT’S SPY VS SPY. The article discusses the split in the intelligence community – a major component of the Deep State – between those who support the president and those who want to overthrow him. A news item that I had barely taken note of and dismissed called “PizzaGate”, is discussed as “PedoGate”, a pedophilia resort run by the CIA and the Israeli Mossad to capture videos of high-ranking politicians having sex with minors to  use as leverage over them. The article also sheds light on the background for US Mideast policy and war, the reasons for the antagonistic approach to Russia, and relationships with Israel and Saudi Arabia.

By the way, WJC are the initials of Bill Clinton. I had previously read an article or two referencing Bill’s taking a 13-year old girl to a resort Island, an event where the Secret Service was told to stay away from.

Bits and Pieces – 20170217, Friday

Commentary: I am still confounded by the phenomenon of Trump hatred in Canada. First of all, he is not our president, and who or what he is and what he does is really none of our business beyond what impact his policies might have on Canada. When confronted on their hatred, people shuffle their feet and mumble a few multi-syllabic words that they have learned from the CBC. I have referred to the psychic energy that they have stored up, without understanding its source. Today a piece slipped into place.  But a little sideways trip first.

Bits and Pieces – 20170117, Tuesday

Commentary: From one of my favourite writers, an interesting piece on what the reactionary forces might do leading up to and into the inauguration: The Cheeto Cometh. The really interesting thought I found is that the next civil war has already begun.

We tend to think of major events as having clear start and stop points such as Pearl Harbor marking the start of WWII for the US. In actual fact, the US at that time had already enacted an oil embargo on Japan which might be said to have required Pearl Harbor as a defensive measure by Japan to the embargo which in turn may be understood as an act of war by the US.

Having said this, I just read a piece by George Friedman and Jacob Shapiro in which they state that their horizon for geopolitical analysis is independent of calendars and as such, specific events: Europe: The Process of Change Continues.

We are linear deterministic thinkers in a world where all action is individually determined and collectively emergent. So there is a continuum in any conflict among the protagonists in which specific points are purely arbitrary. We create such points to enable our (linear) thinking and discourse but in so choosing them, we lose the perspective of the true nature of the conflict. It also ensures our responses will not be optimal and may be very bad.

The conflict among the various political constituencies (I’m not talking Republican/Democrat) has become so polarized that an argument may be made that a civil war is in progress, has been for several generations, but has not yet entered a hot or kinetic phase. This is something to be feared.

I have been including links to speculation on a Trump assassination. It could, however be larger as: Putin Warns Of “Maidan-Style” Attempt To Delegitimize Trump; Doesn’t Believe Trump Used Hookers In Moscow. For those of you not recognizing the reference, “Maidan” refers to the events in the 2014 Ukrainian revolution during which it is alleged that right-wing extremist groups, supported by the State Department and the CIA, violently overthrew the elected government in a coup – classic CIA playbook activity.

Bits and Pieces – 20161216, Friday

What We’re Reading Today

Commentary: It looks like Monday is the showdown at the OK coral. Martin Armstrong has two commentaries on the battle shaping up between the left and the Democratic camp against Trump: Democrats Desperate to Steal Election from Trump at All Costs and Hatred of the Left Continues to Set Stage for Revolution. Their new tactic is intimidation: “Bullet In The Mouth” – Trump Electors Flooded With Death Threats.

The GOP maintains that their electors, excepting one or two, are standing fast: “They Are Standing Strong By The Will Of Our Voters” – GOP Crushes Democrats’ Hopes, Confirms Electors Back Trump. And destroying any shred of credibility he has left: Senator Lindsey Graham Says Russia Hacked His Presidential Campaign Account.

Main Stream Media (MSM): Fake news seems to be the news of the day. It may be becoming the new face of propganda and media control: George Soros Is Funding Facebook’s “Third-Party Fact Checking” Organization Targeting “Fake News”.

Cyber Warfare: This would seem to be the definitive word on the “Russian hack”: NSA Whistleblower Destroys Obama’s Russia Narrative – “Hard Evidence Points To An Inside Leak, Not Hacking”, leaving the question open as to what is Obama up to? In late news, FBI Said To Back CIA Assessment That Russia Intervened To Help Trump Win. Note the line “In addition to “helping Trump win”, the CIA and FBI officials believe Moscow’s other goal included undermining confidence in the U.S. electoral system.” Ask yourself if the Russians have even come close to this in comparison to what the actions of the MSM, Democrats, Obama, Jill Stein, and the left in general have done in their attempts to overthrow the electoral college system.

Climate: Having largely defined ‘Fake news’, in part by becoming one of its best purveyors, the Washington Post moves to climate science: The latest climate ‘conspiracy theory’.
