Bits and Pieces – 20170128, Saturday

Commentary: Forget the left. Their view of Trump is so warped and limited that it is useful for nothing. If you want some real insight into Trump, listen to this 5 minute interview with Newt Gingrich: Newt Gingrich: Trumpism explained,

Civil Unrest: In Bits and Pieces – 20170117, Tuesday I wrote “The really interesting thought I found is that the next civil war has already begun.” Adding further support to this notion on a tip from a friend  is: America’s Second Civil War.

Trump: Trump appears to be setting up a weekly address to the people. Here is the first: President Trump’s First Address To The Nation. Note that he said that he met with the leaders of some of the country’s top manufacturing companies and labour unions. No mention of the world’s top leaders. He is consistent with his priorities.

Bits and Pieces: Here’s an opinion piece analyzing Obama’s term in office: Obama Bequeaths a More Dangerous World. It is partially sympathetic while identifying the forces working around him and against him.

Apparently legislation exists that would undo many of Obama’s executive orders. This is an interesting read: CRA: The “Regulatory Game Changer” That Could Wipe Out 8 Years Of Obama Regs In An Hour.

The leading university in snowflake protection has more to offer: Ohio State Offers Class On How To Detect Microaggressions And Be “Self-Aware Of White Privilege”. Can you imagine what the next generation will be like?

My wife and I were discussing the irony how shopping malls on the outskirts of small town North America hollowed out the downtown cores of the towns. As we walked around our neighbourhood mall today and noted new store closures (month end is approaching and likely the end of leases) adding to a number that have closed months ago. On-line retailing is hollowing out the cores of malls. The big store brands like Sears Holding, Macy’s, J.C. Penny and others are in deep trouble. Several are already in chapter 11 and history. The question to ponder is will Amazon take over the retail world? And while you’re thinking about it, consider this: Amazon Enters Trillion Dollar Ocean Freight Business: How Many Jobs Will Vanish?

Without comment because I can’t think of anything civil: Trudeau, Sturgeon Respond To Refugee Ban: “Welcome To Those Fleeing Persecution, Terror And War”.

Bits and Pieces – 20170102, Monday

Commentary: Martin Armstrong whom I am still assessing has changed his perspective on 2017 to one that is more positive: 2017 is Looking More Optimistic Than Ever. If you read it you might wonder “this is optimism”. His model shows things really come apart in 2018 so enjoy this new year. He touches on 2018 in this post: Everything is Connected – Connecting the Dots, and identifies a key element of the disruption as the failure of socialism in the world (that includes Canada).

Civil Unrest: Civil unrest comes not only from the reemergence of the violent left but of the breakdown of social order on a broad scale. Here’s the latest from the cradle of Democratic municipal government (not Detroit): Chicago Violence Worst In 20 Years: “Not Seen This Level Of Disrespect For Police Ever”.

Trump: Here is a provocative view of the election and of trump’s relationship with the elite: Trump Is Exactly Where The Elites Want Him.

Obama: An assessment of Obama’s record: Obama’s Failed Presidency.

Fake News and Propaganda: More from a reliable source contributing fake news: Washington Post Caught Spreading More Fake News About “Russian Hackers”.

Cyber Warfare: Call it paranoia or call it propaganda by the administration to create trouble for Trump, the following claim was quickly discredited: Russian Hackers Said To “Penetrate US Electricity Grid” Using Outdated Ukrainian Malware. If anyone can reliably comment on the feasance of Russian hacking it would be John McAfee, the founder of the company of that name that provides anti-virus and anti-malware protection software. Whether the primary source lies at Obama’s feet or whether the CIA is operating in the US in its traditional covert role: “Something Stinks” – Like Iraq WMD Fiasco, Russia Story Doesn’t Add Up.

Bits and Pieces: Here is an interesting essay on rthe real hack of the US 2016 election: How George Soros Destroyed the Democratic Party. Here’s an interesting perspective on Turkey from a site that I’m as of today, paying more attention to: Turkey’s “Long Arm” in Europe.

What We’re Reading Today

Commentary: It looks like Monday is the showdown at the OK coral. Martin Armstrong has two commentaries on the battle shaping up between the left and the Democratic camp against Trump: Democrats Desperate to Steal Election from Trump at All Costs and Hatred of the Left Continues to Set Stage for Revolution. Their new tactic is intimidation: “Bullet In The Mouth” – Trump Electors Flooded With Death Threats.

The GOP maintains that their electors, excepting one or two, are standing fast: “They Are Standing Strong By The Will Of Our Voters” – GOP Crushes Democrats’ Hopes, Confirms Electors Back Trump. And destroying any shred of credibility he has left: Senator Lindsey Graham Says Russia Hacked His Presidential Campaign Account.

Main Stream Media (MSM): Fake news seems to be the news of the day. It may be becoming the new face of propganda and media control: George Soros Is Funding Facebook’s “Third-Party Fact Checking” Organization Targeting “Fake News”.

Cyber Warfare: This would seem to be the definitive word on the “Russian hack”: NSA Whistleblower Destroys Obama’s Russia Narrative – “Hard Evidence Points To An Inside Leak, Not Hacking”, leaving the question open as to what is Obama up to? In late news, FBI Said To Back CIA Assessment That Russia Intervened To Help Trump Win. Note the line “In addition to “helping Trump win”, the CIA and FBI officials believe Moscow’s other goal included undermining confidence in the U.S. electoral system.” Ask yourself if the Russians have even come close to this in comparison to what the actions of the MSM, Democrats, Obama, Jill Stein, and the left in general have done in their attempts to overthrow the electoral college system.

Climate: Having largely defined ‘Fake news’, in part by becoming one of its best purveyors, the Washington Post moves to climate science: The latest climate ‘conspiracy theory’.

Bits and Pieces – 20161212, Monday Addendum

As I have mulled over what I have read today it has become clear that a truly historic event is in progress in the US. The establishment consisting of both Democrats – the DNC – and some key Republicans such as McCain and Graham, aided by the mainstream media are staging a soft coup in the US. And their instrument of choice in this process is the one institution with deep experienced in engineering coups of all kinds (and assassinations) around the world: the CIA.

The irony is that they are now doing it on home soil, a jurisdiction that they are not mandated to operate in. And they are operating in full view with their disinformation  campaign. There should be grounds for widespread treason investigations and charges if Trump survives this attack and decides to clean house. This will be revolutionary.

If you accept this thesis, then sit back and enjoy the show.

What We’re Reading Today

Commentary: I’m going to feature a concept that I have been chewing on for a while. The idea is that each revolution in human productivity rising with the industrial revolution has displaced a huge number of workers. People that try and dispel the fear that such job losses create unemployment argue that the technology of the revolution spawns new jobs in new industries that absorb the displaced labour force. While this has been apparently true in recent times, such people miss a key point.

Each technological revolution creates jobs that require a higher level of education/training and skill than the laid off workers have. This has become identifiable in the “knowledge revolution” where the required skill and education levels have moved up to requiring community college or university degrees.

To get an idea of the current state of employment in the US and by inference, Canada and other developed countries, read: Paul Craig Roberts – The Matrix Of Lies And What The Elite Are Really Up To Is Terrifying. In short the government defines the employment rate in a manner that excludes a large number of employable people while burying the fact that a lot of the jobs do not pay a living wage.

To see what’s coming next, read: Rise Of The Machines: Millions Of American Jobs Will Be Wiped Out In The Next Five Years. Government pronouncements of creating jobs are delusional. Bringing in a large immigrant population because we need their skillsdoes not change the current number of unemployed but increases the future number of unemployed when and immigrant lucky to land a job is displaced in the future. Programs like the 35,000 refugees with their education and skill levels simply moves the crisi forward in time.

Finally, the strongest argument supporting the idea of the start of a large permanently unemployed segment of society comes from the nature of the final stage of the industrial revolution that we are now in. The core product of this stage is the creation of labour and service units, growing in sophistication, that will displace large numbers of workers previously thought immune to automation.

What We’re Reading Today

Commentary: None today.

Trump policy: Not directly policy but feeding into it: Donald Trump Latest Interview on Syria & Russia | CBS This Morning. On Obama and the Nature of Failed Presidencies

Tuesday, November 18, 2014

By George Friedman

We do not normally comment on domestic political affairs unless they affect international affairs. However, it is necessary to consider American political affairs because they are likely to have a particular effect on international relations. We have now entered the final phase of Barack Obama’s presidency, and like those of several other presidents since World War II, it is ending in what we call a state of failure. This is not a judgment on his presidency so much as on the political configuration within it and surrounding it.

The midterm elections are over, and Congress and the president are in gridlock. This in itself is not significant; presidents as popular as Dwight Eisenhower found themselves in this condition. The problem occurs when there is not only an institutional split but also a shift in underlying public opinion against the president. There are many more sophisticated analyses of public opinion on politics, but I have found it useful to use this predictive model.

Some Sinister Logic in President Obama’s Anti-ISIS Manifesto

This essay by Paul titled Some Sinister Logic in President Obama’s Anti-ISIS Manifesto, ties togethercomments made by Obama that underlie the subservience of his thinking and his foreign policy We present this essay reprinted by permission of Paul and from The Bayview Review. See the links at the end for direct access to the rest of Paul’s work.

President Obama Rallies the Arab World Under the Banner of “Remembering Ferguson”

On September 25, President Obama delivered to the United Nations Security Council a speech designed to win united action against the several Islamic-terrorist armies that are presently tearing up the borders of Syria and Iraq and threatening to obliterate all the neighboring regimes.

The New York Times noted that, a few paragraphs into his speech,

as he has in previous speeches to this international audience, [Obama] acknowledged that the United States is wrestling with its own demons when it comes to racial and ethnic tensions. “In a summer marked by instability in the Middle East and Eastern Europe” [Obama said], I know the world also took notice of the small American city of Ferguson, Mo., where a young man was killed, and a community was divided,” he said.

What possible connection could there be between that incident in that small American city and the cause being pursued by the Islamic State? Islamic State/ISIS/ISIL/IS is only the most recent of an ever-ramifying thicket of Islamic-terrorist organizations, funded by the same rich Arabs who control the governments of the Middle East. Over recent weeks, IS has been stirring up the bloodlust inborn among Muslims everywhere with its promise to overthrow all the governments of the world for the sake of establishing the Umma, the global regime governed by the will of Allah. As for the Arab governments of the world, the crime for which IS says that they deserve to be overthrown and their heretic princes beheaded, is that they have gone soft on the duty that Muhammad bequeathed to all Muslims – to wipe the Jews, the sons of Pigs and Monkeys, as Muhammad called them, from the face of the earth. According to this “thinking”, the current obstacle to completion of this task is an anti-Islamic alliance led by the United States (an instrument of Satan) and the Jews.

The Sigh of Relief Heard ‘Round the World’

We present this essay by Paul Merkley,  The Sigh of Relief Heard ‘Round the World’, reprinted by permission of Paul and from The Bayview Review. See the links at the end for direct access to the rest of Paul’s work. The essay follows.

A World without Israel will be a world without the God of Israel.

— Abraham Joseph Heschel.

A few days ago, a great sigh of relief was heard coming out of the White House. The Obama government had just announced its decision to abandon America’s traditional support for democracy, civility and legitimacy in order to begin working openly towards what it has always imagined that the best opinion wants and what it has always known was the secret thought of the collective heart of the State Department — that day when Israel shall be no more.

Why Obama Can’t Explain Himself

Stratfor

By Robert D. Kaplan

Secretary of State John Kerry evidently runs a tight ship, given the paucity of leaks that emerge from his office. So we know he is organized and disciplined. He is also an energetic risk-taker, jumping into high-wire negotiations with Iran, and forcing the Israelis and Palestinians to the negotiating table — enterprises that could likely end in failure and ruin his reputation. This is a man with character. By contrast, his predecessor at State, Hillary Clinton, appeared to take few risks and has been accused of using the position of secretary of state merely to burnish her resume in preparation for a presidential run.
