This is a time when Darkness has been descending with increasing rapidity. I am reminded of the story of the writing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by Francis Scott Key during the bombardment of Fort McHenry by the British Navy during the War of Independence. Key wrote it during the battle when it was not clear that the fort or its garrison would remain standing in the morning.

We are besieged by the forces of totalitarian communism which appear to be winning. Cultural destruction is just one front in this war, exemplified by Critical Race Theory and the multitude of expressions of political correctness that spew from our governments and academic institutions. Yet culture does survive and still produces works of beauty and light. I want to share this lovely piece by Karl Jenkins with you.
