How to Read the Data

The data has been copied from the Orders In Council – Search tool.

Using the first order below, the key entries are as follows:

  • PC Number. This is the number of the OICs starting at the beginning of the year.
  • Date. This is the date the OIC went into law.
  • Dept. This is the organizational entity (department) that originated the OIC. Not all orders must originate with the Prime Minister (shown as PMO).
  • Act. This may identify the area that the OIC applies to.
  • Subject. This shows the type of action that the OIC will perform.
  • Precis. This is a short summary of what the OIC will do.
  • Attachments. This provides a link to the text of the OIC.

Unfortunately, the information in the orders is of a high level view and links to details are not provided. One would have to use the information provided below to find the appropriator legislation and search for the changes.
