When one side in the war (Ukraine or Russia) does something new of their own devising, I do not consider it an escalation in an already hot war but simply a change in tactics. The following I consider a new event but not an escalation: Ukraine Claims First-Ever Fighter Jet Strike On Russian Territory. However, since active NATO targeting and intelligence may be involved it may be a NATO escalation, but only because a fighter aircraft was involved. NATO intelligence, targeting, and programming missiles has been know for a long time.

What would be an escalation would be if NATO allows Ukrainian pilots to fly out of NATO territory. This would be necessary since Ukraine may not have any functional airfields for them to fly out of. Russia is on record sayimg that they would strike any such bases wherever they may be. If NATO agrees to this it will be a major escalation: Ukraine To Keep Many F-16 Jets Abroad On Fears Russia Will Immediately Destroy.

An issue which recently caught attention was the plan the US military has for a ground attack on Russia. The following map has appeared widely although not in the Legacy Media.

Here are Andrew Korybko’s comments: Next Month’s NATO Summit Might See Most Members Joining The “Military Schengen”.
