This article is really a place holder for one piece of information. About 10 years ago I saw a video interview of a UN climate official, Christiana Figueres. Granted memories aren’t always that good but I recall her being interviewed in a garden setting. At that time, I didn’t think to download a copy of the video. In recent years, repeated searches would indicate that it has been scrubbed from the internet,
What shocked me at the time was her straightforward admission that the UN climate effort had nothing to do with climate but was intended to redistribute wealth from rich to poor countries. I have been able to find only a single reference to her statement at Investor’s Business Daily, U.N. Official Reveals Real Reason Behind Warming Scare.
The article quotes her:
“This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model [referring to Capitalism] that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution,” she said.
Referring to a new international treaty environmentalists hope will be adopted at the Paris climate change conference later this year, she added: “This is probably the most difficult task we have ever given ourselves, which is to intentionally transform the economic development model for the first time in human history.”
