With the election behind us, I look at Carney’s first actions as PM. I am also initiating a sub-theme – that of what Alberta will do in response to the Carney government. To begin, however, I include a piece from the Epoch Times giving a high level view of Carney’ wife, Dianna Fox Carney.

The article is Who is Diana Fox Carney: A Closer Look at the PM’s Wife. In it we find that Fox Carney is British and the two met at Oxford. This speaks to Carney’s strong ties to Britain and Europe.

Carney’s Pivot to Europe

The short article in The Epoch Times titled Carney to Meet Trump, May 6, King Charles to Deliver Throne Speech in Ottawa, announces Carney’s planned trip to see Trump on May 6. Underlying Carney’s connection with the Elites of Britain and Europe, King Charles will deliver the throne speech in Parliament on May 27. According to the AI Deep Seek, the only other times this has been done is:

Queen Elizabeth II opened Canada’s Parliament and delivered the Throne Speech on two occasions:

  1. October 14, 1957 – During her first tour of Canada as Queen, she opened the 23rd Canadian Parliament (the first time a reigning monarch read the Throne Speech in Canada).
  2. October 18, 1977 – She opened the 30th Canadian Parliament during her Silver Jubilee tour.

A key point is presented by the Times (emphasis mine):

“In parallel, we will strengthen our relationships with reliable trading partners and allies. Canada has what the world needs, and we uphold the values the world respects,” he said.

Carney referenced his previous comments that Canada’s “old relationship” with the United States based on steadily increasing integration is “over.”

This presages a fundamental conflict with the US which will underlie our future reporting.

The Alberta File

I’m beginning this sub-theme because this will be where the action will be inside of Canada. Thursday, Daniel Smith presented to Carney a list of 9 demands of the federal government (read Alberta Premier makes demands during first meeting with PM Carney). For Mr. Net Zero, Mark Carney, these are a non-starter. The line in the sand for separation has been drawn.

On the topic of a referendum, here are a couple of videos related to a possible future referendum. Clyde interviews Keith Wilson, a constitutional lawyer (8:40 minutes).

Further, here is Wilson on the topic of provincial institutions (7:32 minutes)

It turns out that most of the institutions that affect our daily lives are provincial and not federal. This means that the transition to independence won’t require much in the way of changes to how the province is already governed.
