Eric Schmidt, the ex-CEO of Google, recently gave an interview at Stanford. A video of the interview was posted at Stanford and YouTube but a couple of days later, it was erased from all sources except maybe a very few individuals who had made copies.
In it Schmidt describes the frontier of AI and software development where within 5 years or less, software will be written by AI systems and not programmers leading to the possibility where software will write its own code for what it deems it needs to enhance itself. This scenario is unfolding as we speak and is likely unstoppable.
