Late last week, Russia responded as it has long said it would, to the attack by the US and NATO countries, namely Great Britain, against targets inside sovereign Russia. It staged a single strike against a soviet era industrial complex in the city of Dnepropetrovsk. What shocked the West was the technological sophistication of the missile used – a new missile unknown to the West. It is an intermediate range hypersonic weapon travelling at mach 10 or about 3.4 km/sec, that can hit any target in Europe and the UK. This weapon cannot be defended against.

At the same time, the Russians placed their nuclear responsiveness on its highest state of readiness presumably the equivalent of Defcon 1. I understand but have not confirmed that the US followed suit.

Yesterday I published Andrew Korybko: The Dnepropetrovsk Escalation. Begin by reading that. Next watch Nima Alkhorshid’s interview of Dr. Ted Postol, an expert on missile systems. He reviews the available footage of the attack and makes some early deductions of the missile’s construction and performance (43:37 minutes).

Next, Nima interviews a number of retired but very active military and intelligence experts. They dis cuss the missile in comparison to other current missile systems in use . More importantly, they discuss how close to nuclear annihilation we are. A handful of US and NATO neocons control the decision to take the next step that may lead to nuclear war (1:10:49 minutes).

Martin Armstrong has a report on the devastating damage caused by this kinetic weapon: Info on Dnipro. You may recall from your high school physics that the kinetic energy, KE, of an object of mass, m, is given as KE = 1/2mv2. Here, v is the velocity of an object.

To try and put this into perspective, compare the missile travelling at 3.4 km/sec to a car travelling at a fast rate of speed of 100 km/hr. Such a car crash at that velocity is generally devastating. However, per unit of mass, the missile is packing 14,982 times as much kinetic energy as the car. This is the size of the punch without any contribution from any explosive force from the munition itself.

The next move is in the hands of Western neocons.
