I have reviewed the concept of the Monad in the context of Gnostic writings. Seth, speaking through Jane Roberts, gives a more comprehensive understanding of the Monad which he identifies as “all that is”. This is provided in the following video (38:42 minutes).
Seth appears to describe a constellation of individual entities or monads, collectively comprising the Monad. One might think of it as a panoply of gods inside the God. Seth speaks of the entity of which you are part being one monad among many.
Seth uses a 5-layer viewpoint of each of us as an individual aspect or incarnation of a fragment of ane entities along with many other aspects of our entity expressed in other incarnations.Each such incarnation experiences an individual selfness within its entity. This is what Jesus meant when he said that “the kingdom of God is within you (Luke 17:21). He is telling us that all of God is within us while we individually are within God.
To eliminate the idea of separation, Seth describes the consciousness which is the Monad not as being fragmented into separate parts but as being individual focuses within the whole.
Seth goes on to describe two frameworks that we coexist in. Framework 1 is home to our ego or personality in the material world. Framework 2 is the inner dimension where all probabilities exist, where our higher self resides.
Application
Before sleep you may do the following. But work with one at a time. That is you may try one for several nights looking for a response. The response may come through a dream, through an insight or other experience, but don’t expect a verbal response.
- Ask to experience your entity.
- Ask to meet a probable self in your dreams based on the result of making a key decision in your life differently.
- Ask a question of your entity
Also, use deep meditation to query your entity.

Having read little of the Seth material, I still have a couple of observations which are problematic for me. The first is that I cannot correlate it with Gnostic cosmology. There has been no mention of the Pleroma, of Aeons, of the Demiurge and Archons. If he is discussing the Monad then at least the Pleroma should have come into the discourse.
The second is his description of entities and the expanded concept of the now. I can’t make it work for me, too many questions and apparent inconsistencies.
As a result, I cannot recommend the Seth material at this time. I purchased two audio-books, Seth Speaks and The Nature of Personal Reality. I may change or support my view as a result and will remark here.
