At the root of Gnostic cosmology is the Monad. Here is a video (15:42 minutes) that describe the Monad and the creation that emanated from it. The video is succinct. Many other articles that I post refer to the aspects of what this video covers. For example the Bridal Chamber mentioned is explored in detail in The Gospel of Philip.
This video is a beautiful introduction to the entire Gnostic cosmology.
Application
If the Monad is that from which all has emerged, it is then the source from which all power flows. It follows that when we pray, the Monad should become the object of our prayerful exercise. To this end, the goal of our prayer should involve alignment with the Monad. The following video (16:50 minutes) speaks to this with steps to follow.
The video gives 5 steps to follow beginning at 7:31. These steps are summarized below but the video provides much explanation.
- Disconnection from the chaos of one’s thoughts by diverting attention.
- Displacement by moving one’s attention from the mind in the head to the heart, the spiritual center in the middle of the chest.
- Resonance: feel an internal space of silence. Ask the question”What was I before I was named?”
- Speak the words “Monad, I am here. I reclaim the authority that is mine by nature.”
- Let go. The answer will come in it’s own time.
