Edgar Cayce gave instructions on technique for meditation. If the reader wishes to pursue meditation, it might be helpful to review Edgar Cayce on Thinking and the Mind first to help with control of the mind. The following video (17:54 minutes) gives instruction in meditation.

Application

It is important to approach this with a sincere desire to become a more spiritual person. Their will be a personal cost, that of ultimately surrendering your will to the divine will. Here is a summary of steps that Cayce recommended.

  1. Starting with 15 minutes a day, sit in complete physical silence and focus on breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth. As you do this establish a relaxed rhythm.
  2. When you breath in, feel that you are breathing in God’s unconditional love. When you breath out, send this love to all of humanity, particularly towards those who are most unlovable.
  3. Surrender all personal concerns and ambitions, all aspects of one’s personal will. This is a process of dying to self. In the beginning, take one aspect of will at a time. Offer it up to God without explaining or examining it.
  4. Open the heart center to receive divine love and wisdom. Do this by directing your attention to the center of the chest.
  5. Continue this rhythm working up to 20-30 minutes a day.
  6. Allow the resulting consciousness to direct your actions throughout the day.

The greatest obstacles to achieving a peaceful meditative state. are your ego and your emotions. There is no blanket panacea to fix these. Address them one aspect at a time. If you could resolve one issue a week. in a year you would resolved 52 items, perhaps more than you really have.

Be kind to others and also yourself. True forgiveness is essential of both the other and yourself. Love is the key.

What You Do and Do Not Need

You will not become the next Christ overnight so maintain a state of relaxation and peacefulness. Do not try and force things. Over time, as you shrink your personal will and ego, input from your higher self and the Christ consciousness will quietly begin to direct you, bringing benefits like those mentioned in the video.

You do not have to sit cross-legged, just comfortably. You do not have to sit with your thumbs touching your middle finger. You do not need a mantra, a steady focus on your breathing achieves the same result.

As Jesus says in Luke 17:21, the kingdom of God/heaven is within you. That is the only place you should be looking.
